Stop Meeting Students Where They Are

https://apple.news/Afs2aTGc8Soqh8yCS5j1DLA Cruise line rules are not what you thin--having said that, what were some of these people thinking--about even going ashore?

Unusual things this month:  We saw Suzanne Vega in concert. Good show!

My Spanish teacher could not understand the Spanish of Bad  Bunny as he rapped and sang at the Superbowl!

We went to the Hotel Del  Coronado and for the first time since High School, I entered the crown room where we listened to the music of Queen by candlelight.

I had a good samaratan moment finding myself, while in a hurry, asking a little old lady who was clinging to a chain link fence if she was OK. She was elderly, frail, spoke only Japanese, had no ID on her, had peed her pants, and could not walk reliably. I recruited a posse of sorts (good samaratan pasers by) and after an hour, had her at the threshold of what she indicated was her "development" with police on hand to direct next steps. Sloane was no help.

Streaming: Chess queen (Netflix)

Shrinkage (Apple)

Hidden Assets. (Acorn)

The Wind That shakes the Barley (Acorn/Prime)--the illigitimate nature of rousting, "others" we are critical of in Minnesota shows the parallel in Ireland between the wars. Not a great movie, but quite impactful.

Music: Tom’s Diner (Suzanne Vega)

Golden Vanity (Pete Seeger and Arlo Guthrie)

  Here in California (Dave Alvin)
